IDO and other neighborhood groups established the Streetscape Project in 2003 to revitalize The Historic Irvington Business District.
Irvington Green Initiative
IDO launched this initiative to explore the possibility of our community serving as a pilot neighborhood for the mayor’s Indy GreenPrint program.
FOCUS Initiative
Mayor Bart Peterson and Local Initiative Support Corporation designated Irvington's East Washington Business District as a FOCUS Corridor in 2006, enabling IDO to hire a full-time corridor director and distribute more than $65,000 in facade improvement grants to local businesses.
Irvington Neighborhood Plan
The Irvington Neighborhood Plan seeks to build on the strengths of the neighborhood, identify and address issues facing the community, and discuss and develop consensus on the future direction of the area.
Preserve America Community Neighborhood Initiative
In March 2006, First Lady Laura Bush announced the first five Preserve America Community Neighborhood Designations. Irvington was one of them.
